A. Its cheaper
b. its got a better cooler
c. better Cas Latency and timings
d. Triple Channel is more suited for Core i7, whereas AM3 still works better with Dual Channel

Well the HD 4870 1GB is cheaper:

Unless you really want the game..

The CPU + Board seems fine.

But if you go AM2, you can save a lot of money (step down to PII 940 BE) and you have cheaper SB750 boards that use only DDR2, where you'll save at least another $50. In that case you could get an even better GPU or a better cooler.

but DDR3 is the future. it's worth it. cause by this xmas DDR3 prices will be close to DDR2 prices.

Don't do that...

Just get a DDR3 board if you are that concerned about future proofing it.
