Hi,

I'm afraid the details of computer specs leave me blinking in the dark so I was hoping someone could help me.

I'm getting my wife a laptop for her return to University so it doesn't need to be a super high spec overclocked gaming machine or anything and the following 2 come on various deals - can someone tell me which is likely to be a better machine?

PLEASE HELP!!

• IEEE 802.11g
• IEEE 802.11n
• Telecom - Fax / modem
• RAM - 1GB (installed)
• DDR2 SDRAM
• Graphics Controller - Intel® GMA 4500M
• Built-in Devices - Stereo speakers

Machine 2
Toshiba Satellite Pro L300-23L

Which one should I get her?

Thanks for that Trotter.

If you wouldn't mind educating me a bit, is that because Toshiba make better machines than Acer or is there something specific that jumps out at you (processor or whatever) that I could do with knowing?

The Toshiba has a faster CPU. While it is only 200MHz faster, that can surely help with some things. The Acer is only rated at 2GHz and the Toshiba is a 2.2GHz. They are both Celerons. So if hte prices are the same the Toshiba would be the better value as you are getting a better CPU.
