No i can switch it down.

The stock multi is 10.5 but i can drop it lower.

Never owned a Core series CPU.

So how far can you drop it? Is it truly unlocked, or is there a limit?

Don't worry i forgive the noobness

All 3 of the intels i have owned let you drop it.

E7400 can be dropped by .5 at a time
E2200 can be dropped by 1 at a time
D-820 same as the E2200 1 at a time

I can drop her down to 6x i think

I've tried pretty much all multis but no go still

Fair enough.

When I have money I really want to pick up some form of intel system for overclocking purposes. This x3 720 is really the first CPU I've heavily overclocked, since my previous 3200+ wasn't exactly the most amazing overclocker ever...oh look, I hit 2.552ghz over 2.2ghz...yay...

well there is a limit on how much you can slow it down. on my q9300 it's a range from 6x-7.5 so i dont have alot to work with. which makes overclocking this thing a PITA.
