need help Building a new family computer

I need help building a new family computer for somebody for less than $1000.00. Mostly being used to get on the internet. I'm looking at a AMD processor. Something that can handle Windows Vista until 7 comes out. Pretty much, something that can last 4 plus years.

Less then $1000, person has a monitor, keyboard, and mouse. If gaming, maybe light gaming.

Yes, they need a OS. I'm thinking Vista.

Good build although it is an Intel based one which is what I would do with the budget at hand but do you still want a AMD build?

I would suggest this card. I had one for a few days, and it blew me away, played games I didn't think it would play. (Crysis & Crysis Warhead) Played BluRays and DVD's with out a problem at all, saw a decrease in processor usage compared to the 3450 I had. Great video card IMO.

Intel will be fine, but is there a way I can change some of the parts to make it a 32-bit system. I mean, I'm always hearing about how 64 bit systems having driver issues?
