toshiba and fans

It's not the fan on mhy new Toshiba lap top (that I got yesterday) doesn"t work it just doesn"t seem to turn on too much

Is this common in Toshibas? Somebody else told me they have this issue. It doesn't get super hot but it's a concern

the fans on laptops are configured to turn on when the part of the laptop gets to a certain temperature. They don't just stay turned on all the time, that would waste battery life. Laptops are configured to save as much energy as possible and only turn on the fan(s) when needed.

I believe the only fan that would probably be on all the time is your CPU and maybe GPU fan.
