HDMI to my tv, should there be sound??

I just purchased an hdmi cable to hook up my desktop to my tv. I see the picture, but I do not hear anything. I have it hooked up to my graphics card's DVI to HDMI adapter. Should audio be going through or would I need to change some settings or need a different cable?

Is your graphics card's sound plugged into the motherboard? Such a cable is generally required to give video cards sound functionality. Such a cable probably came with your video card.

I think you'll have to run the audio separately since you are using the DVI output as the source.

the audio should come out from ur computer speakers not from ur tv.

^^ Not true the 4850 will send audio over hdmi. You need to set your playback device to ati hdmi audio.

This is for a different ati card but should get you on the right track.
