Ok,

First time building a computer, honestly, I haven't had to many issues, except for some annoying, but fairly harmless compatibility issues with XP 64.

Anyways... everything pretty much went without a hitch.

Everytime I threw a data disc in the optical drive (havent tried any blue rays yet), it worked fine no problems.

So I go to burn a standard blank CD for a friend.... put in the disc, and about 5 seconds later I get a BSOD.

The BSOD comes back with an error that says

DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
Stop:0x000000d1 (parameter 1, parameter 2, parameter 3, parameter 4)
SCSIPORT.SYS

This error is the same everytime I insert a blank CD and it happens in the same way.

The drivers are up to date, and I've tried removing and reinstalling the culprit drive.

It baffles me...

Anyone encounter this problem with XP64 bit and an LG Multi drive? Or perhaps had a similar problem?

Any ideas would help.

Thanks everyone

Hey Nubbleet,

The didn't have a hotfix for XP Pro x64. It's only for the IA-64 and the x86 versions of xp or server.

So it doesnt seem to want to let me install the hotfix.

Any other ideas?

STOP 0x000000D1 or DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

This is one of the most common Stop errors. The error typically occurs when a driver tries to access an improper memory address. Check for unsigned drivers, and be especially suspicious of recently installed or updated antivirus programs, disk utilities, and backup programs, which may install a faulty file-system filter driver.
For more information see Knowledge Base articles 810093, 316208, 317216, and 810980, Windows Vista Inside Out - Redirect, Windows Vista Inside Out - Redirect, Windows Vista Inside Out - Redirect, and Windows Vista Inside Out - Redirect.

Here's what the error means.

Hmmm...

Driver signing with XP64 is always a problem...

I use avast! for antivirus but only after AVG didn't work. I don't use a backup program because I run a mirror raid...

Disc utilities there aren't many but I suppose that could be also be a problem...

I'd hate to think I'd have to go through reinstalling windows again...
