Hi,
I'm new on this forum, so first of all...hi everybody
I've been looking into getting a high performance computer mainly to work on it, and I'd really appreciate a bit of help choosing the parts. I'm not extremely concerned about price as I'd like to do an investment on this machine and I'm going to use it to work. So I'm going to be basically using Maya, Photoshop, Painter and Cubase. And after looking a lot at the Mac Pros I'm almost decided to get a custom build PC (I hope that's the right choice).
I'd like to have something that could support future upgrades on hardware to get the longest lifespan possible for it.
Here's what I have in mind:
CPU: Intel® Core™i7 Processor Extreme Edition i7-975 (3.33GHz) 6.4GTs/8MB Cache
RAM: 12GB CORSAIR XMS3 1600MHz - LIFETIME WARRANTY! (6x2GB)
Motherboard: ASUS® P6T WS PROFESSIONAL: NEW ERA CORE i7 WORKSTATION
Operating System: Genuine Windows Vistaâ„¢ Ultimate 64-bit + Windows 7 Upgrade Voucher
HDD (for storage and accesing files): 2x 300GB WD VelociRaptor® SATA 16MB CACHE (10,000rpm) - RAID 0
HDD (Os and Applications): 120GB OCZ VERTEX SERIES SATA II 2.5" SSD (upto 250MB/sR | 180MB/sW)
Graphics Card: 2GB ATI RADEONâ„¢ HD 4870X2 PCI EXPRESS
Power Supply & Case Cooling: 800W Quiet Quad Rail PSU + 120mm Case Fan
I'm not an expert on computers, so I'm sure there's probably somethig worth changing on this build.
Thanks in advance for your help
Also, I've seen the Intel® Xeon® Quad Core W3580 (8M Cache, 3.33 GHz, 6.40 GT/s) looks pretty much the same than the i7-975, what's the difference? Which one should I choose?
