question about backlight for a sony

I feel dumb for asking this lol, but my laptop a SONY VAIO VGN-CR190 backlight has went out, its super dark now. The backlight is a piece inside the actual LCD correct? So if I bought a new LCD and replaced it than my back light would be working again?

Should be... I did it to a old toshiba, and all is fine.

The back light is part of your LCD Display.

Not overly... It is a seperate light on alot of them... It most likely isn't a plug in afair, but you can change them.

Are you certain the backlight is what has broken? The inverter supplies power to teh backlight and causes the exact same screen effect when it dies.

you was right Diceman I opened it up yesterday and the cable wasnt plugged up to the inverter haha. That was the easiest fix ever lol
