Fans at 100% all the time.

Hey guys! I'm posting this for my brother. He has an eMachines T5212 that is a couple years old, it works fine for the things that he does on it, but lately we've been experiencing some problems with it. The CPU heatsink fan runs at 100% all the time, even when the computer is idling. Its getting really annoying. We think it might be the temperatures, but they aren't running higher than this computer usually runs(~45C - ~55C) and you can't hear this computer what-so-ever... We don't really want to go and spend money right now because we don't have the financial resources to do so. So, any possible fix would be appreciated. Thanks in advance

CPU: 2.66z Intel Core 2 Duo
RAM: 1.5GB DDR2 << Upgraded somewhat
Video: GeForce 7300 GT << Put in on our own

Firstly double check no virus's or rogue programs running.

If nothing, looks like time for a case clean and thermal paste redo.

Yup, can of air and possibly some new thermal paste would probably fix that issue.

We ran a full virus scan and it didn't have any effect, so we took some canned air to the heatsink. It now only runs at 100% when the CPU is above 60% load. We are thinking of ordering some of this thermal paste: Tuniq TX-2 Cooling Thermal Compound - Retail

TX-2 is some of the best out right now so good choice; its also the cheapest so that's another plus.

We will hopefully be ordering some of the Tuniq TX-2 within the next week or so. I'll post when it arives and with the results. Thanks for the help everyone.
