Alright I have most of the parts picked out but to stay within my budget I need to make a decision on the graphics card. I want the best I can buy for the money I'm willing to spend.

+ a monitor ($180)
all of this comes to almost exactly $1200.

This leaves me with about $350 that I am willing to spend on a graphics card. I want a single gpu not two in sli/crossfire and I want the best I can get for that money.
Thanks!

Does it matter whether I get my card from evga or not?

Why not Crossfire when you have a crossfire ready board and a powerful enough PSU? Crossfire/SLI is a lot better than it ever was now.

I honestly would go crossfire 4870's which will beat out a single 285GTX by a lot which are around 315 bucks.

However a 2850GTX is the most powerful single card you can get

^ But why deal with crossfiring two 4870's when for a bit cheaper you can get a 4870x2? The XFX 4970x2 is $369.

Thanks for all the help. I bought all the parts. In the end I bought a gtx 275 because when I recieve it I will be eligible for a free upgrade to a 285 for free. it saves some money and in the future i plan on sli

good decision, right now is not a good time to buy SLI or crossfire because new cards are due soon.
