actually, read a few reviews on those type of coolers, apparently they need more paste then your average cooler. Apparently it's because of the grooves on the bottom of the cooler.
 
2 pea sized drops...that is a bit much

try just a lil more than a grain of rice for tx-2

this may be true, but i only needed a tad more than a grain of rice (size) for my core contact
 
Did you switch the fan around on the heat sink? I think it would be better if your case fan and the heat sink fan were moving air in the same direction. Right now they might be conflicting and not doing a whole lot.
 
Yeah I switched the fan around so it blows towards the front.

@tastegw, did you spread your tx-2 around at all or just put it on the cpu or heatsink and mount it? I think I'm gonna try re-seating my heat-sink one more time.
