Ya, so might tweak the GPU as well as the i7 core - should I get a fan dedicated for the GPU? or will it work wit the HAF the case has (3 230 fans, 1 140 fan, and 1 120 fan) + the CPU fan (top of the line)...

Thanks a ton guys!
Any suggestions, improvements, w.e will help =)

I already hit my budget with this build; currently ~2900; with taxes + shipping + OS = 3500.
so ya lol

oh and I should add: the SSD = Windows 7, McOffice, Photoshop, and MMORPGs
the HDD = all other stuff including high end games such as Crysis, COD, Dragon Age (EXCITED!!!), etc...

Don't get a Sceptre monitor. Terrible support and mine died on me in a year and a half and before it died I had lots of problems with it.

Do you really plan on making blu-ray discs? If not just get a blu-ray reader. That will save you a lot of money. I don't know what any average person would want to make a blu-ray disc for but if you have a reason I'm curious as to what you do.

Also, those drives do DVD stuff too. If you really want two drives then go for it I just wanted to make sure you aren't buying another drive because you thought the other one didn't do DVD stuff.

There is no reason for you to get a 1000w PSU. That is complete overkill. Get a 750w and that will be more than enough for everything.

You shouldn't need any extra cooling for your GPU, the fan on it will be plenty good for mild-moderate overclocking.

I would also save some money on your ram. the dominators are great but overpriced in my book.
NCIX.com - Buy OCZ Platinum OCZ3P16006GK 6GB DDR3 3X2GB DDR3-1600 PC3-12800 CL 7-7-7-20 Triple Channel Memory Kit - OCZ3P16006GK In Canada.

If you plan on running sli in the future you may want a 850watt corsair. You would only need the 1000watt for tri sli.

for a monitor I would look at something like this:
Newegg.ca - ASUS MK241H Black 24" 2ms HDMI Widescreen LCD Monitor with 1.3M Pixel Webcam 450 cd/m2 1000:1 (ASCR 3000:1) Built in Speakers - LCD Monitors
I prefer a native resolution of 1920 x 1200 for gaming especially with your gtx285.

ssd look at this one:
Newegg.ca - OCZ Vertex Series OCZSSD2-1VTX60G 2.5" 60GB SATA II MLC Internal Solid state disk (SSD) - Solid State Disks

- ok I'll look into the Asus. However, I want TV compatibility too - cause I want to run a Wii + TV Cable in the same monitor, instead of having two monitors in my bedroom lol.

- I think making blu-ray discs have their advantages, especially burning photoslideshows/dvd edits and then playing it on a big screen.

- I know, I had the two cause of copying CDs/DVDs onto CDs/DVDs directly, instead of ripping one and then putting it on another

- 1000w PSU, I know, but I am probably gonna establish tri-SLI in the next few years.

- awesome =)

- I'll look into it.

- I'm pretty sure I'll be

- Do I need a sound card?
- I am thinking of upgrading the mobo to Classified, cause I want to go tri sli, but is that necessary - or does my current mobo support it well enough?

The motherboard you've selected is just like mine. It supports Tri-SLI just fine. I would only recommend the Classified if your going to use Extreme Cooling and your obsessed with a Maximun Over-Clock. And then it's still no Guarantee, I'm running faster than a lot of Classifieds :D

The EVGA X58 has built-in 7.1HD sound. You should give it a try before you spend money on a Sound Card

If you want TV, look at these.

Newegg.com - SAMSUNG TOC T260HD Rose Black 25.5" 5ms HDMI Widescreen HDTV Monitor 300 cd/m2 DC 10000:1(1000:1) Build in TV Tuner & Dolby Digital Surround Sound - LCD Monitors

Newegg.com - SAMSUNG ToC T240HD Rose-Black 24" 5ms HDMI Widescreen HDTV Monitor 300 cd/m2 DC 10000:1 Built in DTV Tuner & Dolby Digital Surround Speakers - LCD Monitors

They have a built-in TV tuner.

Tri-SLI is pretty much useless unless you have a 30" monitor. Stick with an 850w Corsair of PC Power & Cooling PSU and just get SLI if you really think you need it.

I would only recommend a sound card if you have a better speaker setup than some logitechs. If not, the onboard will do you just fine.

Definitely get the OCZ Platinums over the dominators. I missed that earlier. Dominators are always overpriced and don't overclock well enough to justify it.

And like Slay said, you don't need the Classified.

K, questions

Is TV Tuner that connection which cable goes into?
If I use HDMI port out to connect to the TV, does the sound from PC get relayed through the TV speakers?
If so, can I attach speakers to the TV, and disregard the sound card/motherboard sound ports, and get sound - since the samsung monitors you showed have Dolby Digital Surround Sound but average speakers.

Thank you.

And also, one GTX 285 should give me decent fps on 1920x1200 right?
on mostly "gamer" settings, though maxed graphics, and no choppiness lol.

Looking to play games like Warhammer II, Dragon Age Origins, some MMORPGs, COD 4 Modern Warfare, Street Fighter, maybe Crysis.
---

I'm not up on all the TV aspect's, sorry.

If your wanting to game at 1920x1200 a single card may get you by, but you'll probably be playing at medium settings on more intense games. I'm running GTX 280's in SLI and I can play anything on the Max. settings at 1920x1200.

Any monitor can be used as a T.V. You just the proper adapter. I play xbox on my monitor, costed me another $50 for a VGA Cable but thats much less than a monitor with a built in T.V. tuner.

The Wii doesn't have a VGA or HDMI adapter cause all its' games look like crap anyways. IMO sell your wii and get a 295 co-op or SLI. Wii's are only fun for an hour or so anyways. Or get a 360 or ps3, both way better than a wii.
