I just switched the system to ATA mode and it worked. It's evident that Vista had the AHCI driver pre-installed whereas XP didn't, seeing as though these systems came from Dell with Vista on them but we took them to XP Pro. QUOTE]

This worked for me! Thanks. I had two 330's that were doing the exact same thing. Switching to ATA in the BIOS (from AHCI) stopped the blue screen on XP install.

thanks for the quick help, we had been deploying dells with no os, but recent bought a batch of laptops (vostro 1520s) with vista preinstalled, what a nightmare. apparently they will charge to make sure that the tech checks to make sure that the pc goes out without an os, WHO KNEW....
