Building a new gaming computer (My first one)

but the only reason i included that case was not because i wanted it. the OP had selected that case in his list, therfore, since its his build, and the case is a matter of prefrence, i included it because it was the one he originally chose.

also, there are many people that decide that they would like an i7 build and they don't do anything thats hardware intensive other than the general pc use and a good bit of gaming. also, if you can get a nice i7 build, you won't have a need to upgrade for sometime to come, unless of course your a pc enthusiast. i didn't say that thers was anything wrong with a c2Q build

and for the psu, thats fine that the one you selected is modular, but you have to understand that i was choosing one that was getting the best bang for his buck.

for the monitor, you should look and the 2nd edit of my last post.

I'm starting to get a little confused now. But maybe I will go with your build. Also if there is a better case than the one I suggested that you know of, please suggest it. I just chose mine because all the other ones I looked at, many people were complaining about the lack of fans or the poor quality of it and how there wasn't enough room for them.

well, not every case will come with as many fans as it can hold, you can always buy more fans, considering that they are really cheap.

i guess you could go with a case with better air flow, the one you picked seemed good to me.

edit: what DawnofDoom was suggesting was that if you think your rig will be cluttered with the extra unused power cables, that you should buy a modular psu, which would allow you to physically remove unused cables, but they can cost a bit more.

and that if you wanted to include a monitor into the $1000 budget, he had suggested a core 2 quad build.

but with the inclusion of a monitor into that budget, youd need to downgrade the cpu, ram, and gpu.

if you're still gonna buy the monitor seperately, id go with my build.

Oh thank you. At least it had solved this confusion. I guess one monitor wouldn't be that much of a deal.

yes, what meat helmet said.

thats why i kinda figured that the case you picked was good. it has 120mm intake and exhaust fans and two 80mm side fans.

either case will be fine.

lol hai its me again.. just another comment about the case. The antec 900 is a weeee bit hard to cable manage in without extra modification. Although it can be an epic case with some work. You just gota be creative about how you hide your cables and get them outa the way. ya kno?

But since this is your first one. it'd be better to just get it built. Then worry about wire manage ment later ya kno?

LOL it seems like all i do is worry about cable management in this thread. LOL but i do feel that it is important.

once you have all your parts with you and installed you'll better be able to see and understand cable management better. You can check out our Cable management thread here for some ideas

Just for some ideas on how you can route your cables if you havent looked. But this is for later on once you get your parts ordered.

If your willing to spend just a bit more you can add this PSU.
I've had better experience with this. the PSU i recomended was just for saving cash. nothing wrong with it though.

If your not going to be doing Hard core gaming then the C2Q build i suggesed would be fine.

The mushkin may not have alota street credit as far as their name goes but i can tell a good PSU by the specs when i see one. More 12v rails are better. again its modular. the one you recomended has only 1 12v rail which isnt necesarily good but Corsair has the street credit to back it up because of their experience in the market of PSU's

More 12v rails is usually worse because when you have demanding cards it is more likely to overload a 12v rail that only has 20A on it. Its better to have one powerful rail that can handle everything.

hope its not too much over budget, comes to 1165 with 30 in rebates, great build. No more confusion because i can see this thread has been quite confusing for you, that should satisfy you. For under 1000 in simple, take out mobo cpu combo, and put in the amd 940 phenom II + biostar 128m mobo/cpu combo.
