Stacking computers on-top of each other

i'm doing lots of installing and uninstalling of programs on multiple computers, to save space I've stacked them on-top each other... they won't fall over, but will the computers being so close to each other cause some kind of damage? (only one is on at a time)

As long as they do not fall and you are not blocking any vents which would cause overheating it should not matter.

Heat and physical damage from falls are the only issues.

No, they won't.
Unless there is to much weight, but I don't see why you would stack 8+ computers on top of each other.

No, they won't do any harm from just being close to each other even if they are all on at the same time. If you think about it, what you are doing is essentially not much different from rack mounting.
