Hi everyone,

You may or may not remember me I posted about a month ago about a new "budget" gaming build. I finally got all the parts (actually waiting on PSU delivery) and would like to have a little input on my final selections (some of these were highly influenced by this board :)

Current Build Spec.

CPU – Phenom II X3 720 B.E. 2.8GHz Triple Core Processor – Stock Cooling (New)
MOBO – Gigabyte GA-MA790X-UD4P (New)
MEM – Gskill 4GB DDR2 1066 (PC2-8500) (New)
GPU – Sapphire 4850 1GB GDDR3 256bit (New)
HD – Western Digital Caviar Black 500GB, 32MB Cache, SATAII (New)
DVD – Lite-On 16X DVD burner – not SATA (from previous build may add an additional 22X soon)
Floppy – Yes (from previous build, may replace with card reader soon)
PSU – OCZ StealthXstream 700w w/Active PFC non modular (New)
Case – ThermalTake – SViking w/front intake 120mm fan and rear exhaust 120mm fan, fan controller, and digital temperature display. (from previous build – good case)
OS – Windows 7 64bit RC (free :))
Monitor – Acer 19” WS (Already had)
Keyboard – Saitek Eclispse (USB) (Already had)
Mouse – Logitech Marble Mouse (Trackball, USB) (Already had)
Speakers – Boston Acoustics 2.1 Stereo Speaker (from previous build still sound good)
Printer – Lexmark – All-in-one Printer, Scanner, Fax (USB) (Already had)
Controller 1# - Wingman Force Feedback (USB) (Already had)
Controller 2# - Sidewinder Gamepad (USB) (Already had)
Battery Back-Up/Surge Protector – APC UPS 500 (I know old, but never used before. Was still in the box – seems to be working OK, but unfortunately no USB connection)

Any comments, thoughts, or tuning tips would be appreciated. Haven't ran this system yet as the PSU wont delivery until Monday. Everything else is assembled just waiting to put in the "heart" LOL.

I've heard about problems with the OCZ StealthXstream series. Look for some reviews and stuff on google and you might change your mind on that one.

I would recommend a PC Power & Cooling or a Corsair in that order

Good, minus the OCZ StealthXStream PSU, they ripple a bit... I'd recommend something else like Comatose mentioned

Epic fail.. my bad.. I always get the people who flip their names confused haha

Thanks for the input Pinscher and Vernong didn't know about the Stealth the couple of reviews I read about the 600w (all i could find - except for new egg's user reviews - which we all know are crap for PSUs) all seemed to be pretty positive huh...

I always heard OCZ PSUs were pretty good (of course PCP&C and Corsair are the best but I heard OCZ was made by PCP&C - even the rebates are together). I gathered it was very similar to the ModXtream versions just not modular (I have plenty of room to hide a few cords). I really wanted a 700w, but could afford the PCP&C or the Cosair PSUs in the 700w range. Well it's on it's way already shipped from New Egg so nothing I can do except possibly return it. You think this PSU is bad enough I should return it (it has to be better than the Ultra X-Finity I had in my old build)?

Oh yeah Muffin Man love the chair wish I could get one of those (my wife would $hit if I tried to justify that LOL)

Actually, PCP&C is a subsidiary of OCZ, but OCZ does not make PCP&C's PSU's and PCP&C does not make OCZ PSU's.

Also, Seasonic makes (or at least did make) most of Corsair's PSU's.

OCZ's ModXStream line isn't bad, but I've read some bad things about their cheaper stuff. And they don't have any single rail models either.
