I have a 10 y.o. Gateway G6-400 PC with an Intel Tabor II motherboard and a PII 400 Mhz processor. I have a salvaged PIII processor I am hoping to use as an upgrade. The Gateway specs page does link to "Pentium III processor serial number Q and A" in the FAQ section of the motherboards specs at
Gateway Support - 4000446 Intel (Tabor 2) BX Motherboard w/ Integrated Audio R2
but it does not specifically say that this motherboard will accept the PIII. FWIW, I have 320 MB RAM

Neither Gateway nor Intel would field questions...

I wish to find out if the power supply, Tabor II motherboard and 16MB Ensoniq AGP Graphics Accelerator / video card are compatible with the PIII processor.

i think its time for an upgrade because it would not be worth the replacement.

do you have any money you could spend on a newer machine?

...and i thought i had an old pc (duron @ 700, 768mb bleh...)

I agree spending any $ on this old system would not be wise.

I am playing around with this for educational purposes.

The issue I wish to address is whether the PIII processor I have (salvaged from another system that was being junked) will work on the Intel Tabor II motherboard that had a PII as OEM.

ah ok, i see you have an interest in ancient history, an enriching subject :)

i see now the piii q and a, i suppose if they provide something on it on their product page then theres a good chance it could work. doesn't hurt to just go for it and seeing if it works as that is just an experimental pc.
