Headphones to DVD Drive question

My dvd drive has a headphone outlet on it (whos doesn't?). How do I "activate" it? I tried plugging them in, but I still got sound fromt he speakers)plugged into the back o' the mobo). Does anyone know?

did you turn up the volume on the cdrom drive in fornt where the headphone port is

If ur expecting the sound to stop from the speakers connected to the mobo, when you connect the headphones to the dvd drive.

It doesn't work that way. Your mobo will still power your speakers.
By plugging the headphones to the dvd drive you can just simultaniously listen to the music on the headphones too.

What if I unplug the speakers, then plug the headphones into the drive? Will that make any sort of difference?

yea obviously the speakers wont work and ur dvd drive will lol... im not sure tho but i htink u need the analog port at the back of the dvd drive plugged in to ur mobo or ur soung card (depending on what supplies soung to ur speakers).. if uve already connected the analong connector than u shud be set
