Hey everybody, here's a unique topic:

Building mah new computer!

Anyway, is there anyone that could help me out with checking whether or not these parts are compatible with each other? This is my first attempt ever at creating one. I will be using it for gaming, and school tasks.

My spreadsheet is located here:

(For all version of excel, hopefully)

Old spec for previous excel.xls

This build looks great!

Only problem I see with it is, that IDE DVD Burner and that board. Its not that the board is bad, its a good SB750 but for the price you could get a 790Gx board like these:

Newegg.com - BIOSTAR TFORCE TA790GX A2+ AM2+/AM2 AMD 790GX HDMI ATX AMD Motherboard - AMD Motherboards
Newegg.com - DFI LP JR 790GX-M2RS AM2+/AM2 AMD 790GX HDMI AMD Motherboard - AMD Motherboards
Newegg.com - BIOSTAR TA790GXB A2+ AM2+/AM2 AMD 790GX ATX AMD Motherboard - AMD Motherboards

Unless you really want the extra USB ports

Thanks for the helpful reply! I really am not savvy with technical terms, however. Are the optical drive and mobo incompatible?

They are compatible however IDE cable like the one used by that optical drive are a pain to work with and can block a lot of airflow in your case. SATA cables support higher speeds ()however speed isn't an issue for optical drives) in addition to being much much thinner and easier to work with.

This optical drive uses sata.

Newegg.com - LG Black 22X (CAV) DVD+R 8X DVD+RW 16X DVD+R DL 22X (CAV) DVD-R 6X DVD-RW 12X DVD-RAM 16X DVD-ROM 48X CD-R 32X CD-RW 48X CD-ROM 2MB Cache SATA 22X DVD±R DVD Burner - CD / DVD Burners

second the biostar TA790gx, this a great board, and the 720 will help you for overclocking if your interested since it has an unlocked multi.
