i just got this computers(yeah i know its crap)

and i jsut found out it only has 512mb ram

and goes VERY slow

im doing malewearbytes and that has found 30 infections

the computer is allso on VISTA home(does it need atleast 1-2GB ram to not lag/crash or go slow?)

i will post up info about the computer once i know how to run dxdiag i cant seem to find the run program if anyone knows where it is could you please pop a post down

If your running Vista you should have at least 1GB of ram. You don't really need any more then that unless your gaming.

I would do 1gb, I think you'd be okay as long as you're not gaming. Definitely remove those infections as well, those will slow down the PC a lot. If you have a recovery disk, actually, it might be best to just pop that in and start fresh.

i dont have the vista cd so i cant do a fresh install and im not sure what ram i can use in this pc yet

Once you're able, go to RAM Memory Upgrade: Dell, Mac, Apple, HP, Compaq. USB drives, flash cards, SSD at Crucial.com and use their scanner to see what type of ram is compatible. My guess is standard DDR2 but it's best to be sure. I would recommend running CCleaner on your PC as well to clean out temporary files, registry errors, etc. as that will help speed things up quite a bit. Finally, you should do a nice disk defragmentation, too. I like the free version of Diskeeper (Diskeeper Lite) myself.

make sure you keep an antivirus and an antispyware setup on the machine, too. AVG or Avast and Spybot are popular choices.

I'm assuming your PC is a store bought one, like an HP or a Gateway? It probably has a program on it that will let you create a Recovery DVD.

If you have important stuff or do not want to reformat run through osiris guide and post up HJT and malware byte logs in the virus area.
