Buying my 4890.. but.. which one?

12 and 9 are way different then your stated 15 and 20.

While the new "Vapor X" technology cooling seems promising - I don't feel it is fully required yet, especially with a decent cooling case. The design seems a bit lacking just to compact it into 1 slot instead of 2 slots.


Phase change cooling (what vapor x is designed on) is a newer thing over all - you can make your whole system Phase Cooled if you wanted to and get the similar changes in temps and lower "noise levels".

Newegg.com - XFX HD-489A-ZDDC Radeon HD 4890 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFire Supported Video Card - Desktop Graphics / Video Cards Is ordered and on it's way - had a random review state that his "working computer" now locks up with the only change being the new GPU - any thoughts on this? Or just probably user error on his part?


I hate getting a message like that after I order... makes me worry.

Yeah, I know, I read a lot of reviews before that some... idiots ... put the wrong size RAM in and broke the motherboard and other horror stories like that - so I know the reviews on there are only to be a sample of facts, like a WIKI, I just worry when I spend heaps of money and am not quite 100% sure
