8450 vs e5300

Which one is better, the Phenom 8450 or the Dual core E5300?

They're completely different.

But I would get an E5300 personally. The extra core wouldn't be worth it in that case.

The old phenoms never really launched off as they had overclocking problems which meant a no no in the high performance world, reguardless many machines that used stock settings still had them and they were not all that bad. The 8450 was the lowest one and it is no where near as good as the e5300, the e5300 is a way better choice. It will also overclock very well. It will do 3GHz on stock voltage easily.

I wouldn't buy either, but between those two choices I would get the e5300.

agree with the 5300 here,

Phenom 8450 @ $75 is one of the worst cpu buys you can make at the moment in my humble opinion.

for budget chips, e5200($69.99) and x2 7750($59.99) are the way to go.
and up the ladder just a lil are the e7400($119.99) and the x3 710(119.99)
