This all totals out to $808, with $51 in rebates.

Any thoughts or alterations? He likes these choices but hes willing to go up to $900.

never base your purchase on mail-in rebates..they rarely go as plan.

uhmm the board is no good. the P31 chipset is extremely old. Go with a P43 or P45 chipset board. DO NOT go with that power supply..most unheard of name brand PSU's are garbage and blow up. Get either a corsair or PC power n cooling PSU. Antec makes some good ones that you can usually find with antec cases (combo deals). If you're going on a budget I would get rid of the sound card. Most people can't tell the difference..so unless something is causes an issue i wouldn't get one to start with.

That board is not worth getting with that processor. You'd be better off getting a P45 board.

You also don't need a sound card, the onboard is fine.

You can take the money you save and get better parts in general.

Total comes to 871.59 after shipping, with 50 bucks in MIRs.

Much better board, better PSU, better HDD, bigger monitor.

EDIT: Waffle, SeaSonic isn't exactly an unknown brand...Corsair PSUs are actually SeaSonics, just rebranded...

The combo with the E8400 for that board will put him over the $900 limit...he'd have to skimp on something else.

But it is a good board.
