I have a COMPAC PRESARIO sr2010 nx . my pci-e slot quit working, i was useing a 8400gt nvid it had been working great an 1 day it said video error now it wont even reconise the video card, i checked bios tryed reinstaling the card even bought another new card tryed destructive recovery it wont even show up on the new hardware is the motherboard bed? please give advice thanks

Sounds like the slot is dead. Which would require you to contact Compaq and see if they can replace the mother board for you.

You won't be able to do that. Compaq like many other name brand PC companies use proprietary parts as well as special OEM software.

If you are planning on just buying any CPU/RAM compatible motherboard, It's not going to work.
