I am planning to buy new laptop, but I am kind of interested in this idea, barebone, DIY.
I know MSI and Asus have barebones. And one from MSI (MS-1651 ID2) seem to be identical to GX620 (for which I have my eye on, if I will not do barebone).

MSI Notebook Product Specifications

What do you think about this? Have anyone done it here before?

I've done it. It's cool, nothing wrong with it, but it seems like after figuring in the cost of processor, ram, hd, and wifi card (they don't always come with one) it would have been less expensive and less of a hassle to buy a complete system. Plus, a complete MSI system usually has a 2-year warranty, with a DIY each piece is seperate and the chassis I think only gets a year warranty.

hmm yes, probably so. I tried to find approsimate cost of such build, just few minutes ago, and it end up very close to complite system.

Where do you get those barebones anyways? On ebay?

Seeing that site has got me questioning on what i need to do to get a TV tuner installed.
