Bios help

Ive recently put together my first computer. everything works great. Bios is starting. Only problem is it seems the computer does not recognize my SATA hard drive and my SATA CD/DVD rom drive. Ive checked the SATA cables on both and everythings tight. Please help

Asus p5q Se/R Mobo
Intel core 2 duo e8400
Geforce 9800 GT
4 GB ram DDR2 1066
Sata 500 gb hard drive
CD/DVD rom drive
700 watt PSU

What OS are you trying to install?

thank you for replying but stupidly i forgot to plug in my CD rom drive, and ive found that my hard drive was DOA. thank you anyway
