Keyboard doesn't work in safe mode

I have to boot into safe mode because of viruses and the keyboard will not work. It works under normal mode. I have tried 2 different PS2 keyboards and neither of them work. Do I have to do something to get the keyboard working?

Yes, remove the viruses.
Almost positive the virus causes this issue.

Do you have any virus scanners?
If not, I would suggest the following...

AVG Free - Download Free Antivirus and Antispyware for Windows XP and Vista
OR
Download FREE antivirus software - avast! Home Edition
OR
Free antivirus - Avira AntiVir

Any of those will work, and its up to you on the choice.
I personally use avast, but I've heard good things about the others also.

He uses AVG Free for the antivirus. I could be wrong but I don't think it is the viruses causing the keyboard not to work. The keyboard works fine under normal mode.

I found this strange. The first time I booted into safe mode, the keyboard worked. But when I booted into safe mode again, the keyboard quit working in safe mode.
