No kidding, happened to me the other day when I was testing a card, stuck it in there and mother of god was it loud as heck.

it is so annoying, i remember back when i had my 680i it kept happening all time and i coukld no figure out why, then i realized that sometimes the 680i needs a molex plugged directly into the board even when not using sli. Maybe they should tade the beep for a nice red flashing led or something
