Aside from the fact this is my first post, here we go:
Just to sum it up, I'm looking to build another computer for gaming and such.
My current rig is:
AMD Athlon 64 3200+ @ 2.0GHz
ATI Radeon X800 XL
1 GB DDR 400 RAM
an old Epox Mobo that I can't remember specifics about
a 17 inch plasma NEC monitor
an Antec 430W PSU
I can't even remember what my case name is...
120GB 7200RPM HDD
I'd like to build a work in progress essentially. I don't have too much money, but I NEED a new system. I was looking at maximumpc's guide to a 500 buck budget PC, but I'm not liking some of the picks.
OS, monitor, and HDD aside, I'm looking to get a computer for about $800 that I can upgrade as I get more money from working.
Just want some thoughts/comments about this build:
Processor
Intel Core i7 920 Nehalem core 2.66GHz $279.99
Newegg.com - Intel Core i7 920 Nehalem 2.66GHz 4 x 256KB L2 Cache 8MB L3 Cache LGA 1366 130W Quad-Core Processor - Processors - Desktops
Mobo
MSI X58 Pro Intel X58 ATX $189.99
Newegg.com - MSI X58 Pro LGA 1366 Intel X58 ATX Intel Motherboard - Intel Motherboards
PSU
Antec EA 500W ATX12v v2.0 $69.99
Newegg.com - Antec earthwatts EA500 500W Continuous Power ATX12V v2.0 SLI Certified CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS Certified Active PFC Power Supply - Power Supplies
Case
Cooler Master Centurion 590 $59.99
Newegg.com - COOLER MASTER Centurion 590 RC-590-KKN1-GP Black SECC / ABS ATX Mid Tower Computer Case - Computer Cases
Memory
Corsair 2GB (2 1GB sticks) DDR3 1333 $52.00
Newegg.com - CORSAIR 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10600) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory - Desktop Memory
GFX Card
EVGA Geforce GTX 260(recertified lol) $169.99
Newegg.com - Recertified: EVGA 896-P3-1265-RX GeForce GTX 260 Core 216 896MB 448-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready Video Card
That totals up before taxes and shipping to $821.95
Keep in mind I'm simply budgeting now so I can turn it into a beast within a few months.
Any different suggestions/general comments are appreciated!
