Best of the worst of choices for laptop based on my experience. List from best to worst.
1. Toshiba Satellites
2. Sony Viao
3. HP Pavilion / Acer Travelmate
4. Compaq Presario / Acer Aspire
Other brands I can not comment on as I have not seen too many come in.
Sony is on this list of due to sony's lack of commitent for online driver support and for being over priced. Apart from that, they are a good notebook, however you are better of looking Toshiba Satellite Pro instead.
