I heard it from a sales person fiddling with there USB turn-tables at guitar center. It was this plastic device about a few inches long with all sorts of nobs and buttons.

I inquired about a firewire version of the same board, "oh, no, firewire is going out of style" etc etc. Where have I been?

Spam???

No Firewire and USB 2.0 wont be going away.... USB 3.0 is coming out which will allow older 2.0 devices and there is no reason to kill firewire, a lot of HD cameras use it...

I thought that was the MAIN reason for firewire. I think the sales person misunderstood what I was referring to in terms of wires. Firewire does a full DV tape to HDD (around 60 mins of video) at 30 minutes doesn't it?

I have no idea, I just know it is usualy used for that sort of thing while usb is a general communication method for just about everything now...

This is completely false. Two different standards, both are widely used, and they're not going anywhere.

Key part-

Guitar Center Salesperson.

Maybe the companies who make turn tables are using USB more.
