Hi,

I have a Compaq Presario PC. It came bundled with a "Quick Restore"
CD to recover pre-installed Windows 98. Recently due to persistent
crashes and other problems, I formated the hard disk. But whenever
I try to restore the hard disk to its factory state using the
"Quick Restore" recovery CD, the Recovery CD hangs in between.

I even replace the old hard disk and attempted on a fresh new hard disk,
but the problem persists.

How can I bring back my PC to its factory state using this
Recovery CD?

Call Compaq.

When you did a reformat without using the recovery disk (WHICH IS WHAT IT'S THERE FOR) you probably nuked something Compaq slips onto your drive to handle the recovery disk.

You could aslo:
Have a damaged recovery disk (has it worked before?)
Reformatted with a faulty CDROM driver
Are experiencing mobo issues
And so on and so forth...

Visit Compaq first.

did you delete any partitions when you were formatting? if you did you will need to get a hold of an operating system and do it manually. you can download drivers off the compaq site
