Sound issues. [Vista].

I'm having some sound issues with Vista lately, it's new installed and the sound isn't working basically.
You have to turn the sound up all the way on the control, but it comes out quiet.

1. Have you upgraded your sound drivers?
2. Are you running it on a laptop?

**EDIT** Forgot to add.

3. have you installed any Audio programs (could also be video editing as well sometimes they come with audio editing ) when the problem started?

4. Do you have windows updates turned on?

Have you gone into the Control Panel under sound and adjusted it so that it is setup correctly? Could just be that the default settings are not what they should be for your preferences.
