my hard drive isn't being recognized

i recently bought a second SATA hard drive, all the cables are connected but it won't show up in the BIOS or the tools on the cd it came with. maybe i'm missing something? i don't know but i will appreciate any help .

make sure that the specific SATA ports are set to enabled in the BIOS

i just checked my bios and my SATA ports are enabled, and it's only recognzing my old hard drive.

Make sure it's all properly seated and try different ports... my bro's mobo has about 10 sata ports and not all of them work.

is your primary hard drive sata? if it is-try it on the connection you tried with the second hard drive--at least you will know that your connection work--
