this tells u about Serial ATA. the fastest Parallel ATA can only go 133Mbytes/sec. Serial ATA has already surpassed this with 150Mbytes/sec and sometime this year or early next year it will be up to 300Mbytes/sec. then in a few more years a whopping 600Mbytes/sec!!! but i guess this isnt a good reason to get this awesome piece of technology. :cool:

Those speeds are what they are technicaly capable of. In reality, they don't even come close.
 
basically what im saying why get IDE when it wont get any faster than 133Mbytes/sec...i know SATA wont get exactly 600Mbytes/sec...but it is very possible...either way SATA is the way to go...thats my story and im sticking to it

SATA was just introduced about a year ago and it is already faster that IDE so there is a great deal of potential for it...whereas IDE has been out since....well before i was born (1984)...u do the math
