Hello all. Alittle about me. Father of 2 daughters, and 1 son. Move to AL. a few years ago to take care of the inlaws. Been playing with pc along, LONG time..lol. First pc was loaded with a cassette tape. College (NCSU) was sitting in the hall to use card punch for write programs... Like I said. Be awhile



Any way, my kids have my old computer (Gateway 500x). Today I opened it up to clean it out and replace ram. I put back together and will not boot. I put old ram back into it with still no luck. I have reseated memory, only thing that was different 1 time I can get 3 beeps, and next time I do not have any. I cant remember if it had beep at boot up or not. Please advice before kids find out I have messed up there machine and they try to take mine over...

Welcome to the forums

Your beep code of 3 beeps is a memory issue. Try booting with one stick of ram in different slots.
