is this the best hdd for the buck?

From what I've seen the single platter 7200.12 drives have high access times. I'm interested to see your benchmarks as I want to see if this is true or not, I have seen that the transfer speeds are quite good (best of any 7200RPM drive I've seen).

The fastest 7200RPM drives out at the moment in terms of transfer speeds AND latency IMO are:

WD Caviar Black 320GB Platters
Hitachi 7K1000.B 375GB Platters
Sammy F1 320 GB Platters

That makes it significantly faster then the WD 640gb black then. Great timing as at the start of next month I will be getting a new hdd and processor.

Transfer speeds are quick, yeah, but 15.2 ms access time is not that great at all.
