Is my 550W Power Supply enough?

My 550W Power Supply has been great, but I recently purchased a new GTX 285 and E8500 Processor. I plan on OC'ing the Processor to around 4.0.


Just wanting to know if my 550W will have enough to handle all of this.

If not, what Modular Power Supply should I go with?

i have that modular PSU. it's awesome powers my q9300 at 4GHz and GTX 260

You'll definitely want to upgrade that PSU.

The minimum for a GTX 285 is a 550W PSU. So I would recommend a 650W.

This one has a single 12V rail @ 52A, so you'll be golden.

Maybe someone else can chime in, ill look when I can for a modular PSU.

The 750W phil put up im sure its fine, I just don't like recommending power supplies that are far out of your requirments.

If you're going to OC the CPU I'd go ahead and grab a 750w.

What kind of reputation does Zalman have? I might go ahead and purchase that 750W

Zalman's not bad. Phil uses it and doesn't have a problem with, so if you like the price and don't see anything different that tickles your fancy, go for it.

i love it. got my q9300 up to 4GHz with it. never had a prob with it. it ran my GTX 260 core 216 and my old 9800GTX and it held up well. it's silent too. and runs cool. zalman makes good stuff.
