trend micro - ad aware conflict

Hi i have trend micro and ad aware installed on my computer. Recently trend micro stopped being able to scan. I called tech support and the tech claims that ad aware is conflicting with trend micro. I don't think that makes sense considering i had ad aware on the computer for well over a year now and never had a prob with either that or trend micro. It actually did work afterward but i think that is because he made me reinstall trend micro.
Anyone have an opinion aboutt this? Does it make sense that they would conflict after so long?

Im not sure what the problem is but I doubt it that they are conflicting

Thanks. I think I'll install ad aware again and see. In the worst case i'll remove both again and do a fresh install. Do you think it could be a virus which disabled trend micro or something? Though malwarebytes didn't find any infections. I appreciate your input. Thanks
