alright guys here is my build, as you guys suggest stuff i will change the links.
requirements:
-needs to be around $1,000 its alright if it goes over 100 or so.
-be able to play the newest CoD game, Guild Wars (guild wars 2 when it comes out), and dawn of war two.
-more for entertainment purposes, music and movies

With a 1500 dollar budget you could easily go with a core i7 build. Also, that video card is basically just an 8800. at the least get the 9800gtx+, but since the gts 250 is usually cheaper and basically the same thing go with the gts 250.

Also to save a little bit more money I would go with Vista Home Premium 64bit. Also +1 to i7 build.

Power supplies overkill as well.

For around $1000 you can get a Core i7 920, $220 X58 mobo, $95 6GB of DDR3-1600, maybe a gts 250? Then of course your choice of the rest of the rig. I could see that being under $1000-$1200 pre-shipping.

should put you around the $1000 mark, just add a case of choice and you are ready to go.

Isn't that power supply just a bit much for that rig? Esepcially for a video card that requires a 500W? I'd suggest-

well what ever it's a good bang for the buck PSU. plus the corsair you picked is $150, more expensive and less wattage only for modular support.

I'm sure it is dude. But I'm just coming from the point of view of not going over kill. Yes, you're right, it has less wattage, because the guy doesn't need a 750W power supply. I suggest it because it's known to be a great power supply, and I've used it in a previous rig, and yes it's modular, which is great for cable managment. If the guy was going to be doing some ubber overclocking and/or running an ubber high powered system, then I wouldn't recommend a modular power supply.

You'll notice I posted two of them. The second one being a great power supply that's cheaper, not modular, and has a good 12V.

does it matter what PCI x16 slot that the video card goes into? because if it goes into the top one then i will need to find a different sound card. or maybe you guys think i should go with a different sound card anyway??
