The 790 chipsets will support AM3 no problem, and so will some 780G boards. Like I mentioned earlier, grab the Biostar TA790GX 128M.

Will the Foxconn 780G support the P II X3/X4? I am considering upgrading in about a month or two to the quad

EDIT: Just checked Foxconn's website. Looks like it is compatible after Bios update!

The 780G chipsets have not much of a problem support the X4 940/920, since it is still technically AM2+. But with the new AM3 sockets, fewer 780G boards will support it methinks.
