Also I would recommend a reseat of the video card. Re check power cables. Run memtest on the ram to see if it is bad after you reseat it like sparky suggested.

I had a similar problem on and older computer and CRT monitor something in the monitor would not automatically detect the signal and would stay black I would have to power the monitor off and then on and it would come to life I would gave that a try
