Hey I'm doing a build soon but I still have to order a graphics card, and I'm going to be gaming on a 24" Samsung Syncmaster, so I can play at the res of 1920x1200, and I'm just wondering what recommendation on GPU(s) do you give? I'm looking for a frame rate of about 50FPS on Crysis with all Very High settings...thanks a lot for the help guys - Sam. :D PS:I would like the cheapest route, if this includes doing SLI, my mobo is an EVGA x58 SLI model...if you needed that info.

how much is your budget. My guess is you would want a gtx 285 or a 4870 1gb.

and if you want 50fps on crysis you would probably want more horsepower. With that comes a high expense. Those cards will give you good frame rates on all other games at high settings 1920 x 1200

here is a good fps comparison.

BFG GeForce GTX 285 OCX review

Single cards crysis warhead 1920 x 1200 high settings
4870 1gb = 28fps
gts285 = 38fps
gtx295 = 49fps

Of course as the fps go up so does the price.

do u think the 4870 will drop in price when that happens? Im about 1 and a half weeks from buying a 4870 1gb for around $235 CND

I doubt it. Its pretty cheap already after a few price drops.

Playing crysis on max at 1920x1200 with AA will require at least a GTX285 to be comfortable. Mine gets 50fps at 1650x1280 with AA, so i think on a higher res a hd4870 would start to struggle as soon as you put some AA on. A 4870x2 or GTX295 will do it with ease, but again they are more pricey.

Im planning on an i7 build, 6 gigs ddr3@2000mhz, 4870 1gb clocked a bit. I have a 24 inch monitor @ 1920x1200 what do u think id get on crysis maxed? would it be playable?

Also, would another 4870 in crossfire help it out?

Depends on how much you want to spend.

If price is of no concern, a GTX 295

If you want something about 350 ish, GTX 285

Something about 300 ish, a GTX 280

If less then about 280, look for a GTX 260+ or a 1 GB 4870.

I would just go with a GTX 295 or GTX 285 if your going to get a bigger moniter at some point.

I get 25 fps average in Crysis vanilla with this rig at very high and no AA on a 1920x1200 monitor. Warhead must be a world more optimized if you see a 13 fps increase and then with AA. That is a lot for Crysis.
