Is there a huge difference in performance between the X4 940 and the 920 because I am fine with spending the extra money if it is worth it.

X4 920 will still get like 3.5ghz. Unless your overclocking there really isn't a huge difference between the two chips. Even when you overclock, the difference isn't huge.

With one chip (X4 920) you overclock incaresing the bus speed. While the 940 is black edition and only requires an increase in multiplier.
