Which CPU

So I have been looking around the forums and I don't know what processor to go with.

Newegg.com - AMD Phenom II X3 720 2.8GHz 3 x 512KB L2 Cache 6MB L3 Cache Socket AM3 95W Triple-Core Black Processor - Processors - Desktops

Only reason I would go with the Phenom 2 X3 is because it is a AM3 and can support tri-channel RAM.

Considering the $80 price difference, the X3 would be the best to go with, since the X4 isn't much more powerful - unless you don't mind paying that much for a slight increase in performace. Keep in mind that most applications don't make use of two cores, let alone three or four.

The X4 940 is a great processor, but the extra cost really isn't worth it in my opinion, especially with the combo deals right now.

No, why? DDR2 works just fine with both processors.

But in all seriousness, that kit will be great. You don't need DDR3.
