Hey, so i recently decided it was time to upgrade my graphics card and throw some more ram into my computer, problem is im not really looking to spend over 250 for the whole setup, was trying to get 4gb of ram and a decent graphics card. I found a card that im considering buying ( Radeon HD 3870 512MB) but when i looked into the system requirements it's calling for a 450 Watt or greater power supply ): i only have a 250 watt psu atm.

So with the 250 watt power supply would it be completely out of the question to run the card through it anyway ? if that's not a possibility does anyone have any recommendations for a good setup for FX card or card/supply?? was trying to spend about 50 on the ram and 200 on the card/psu (if i need the psu)

The main use of the comp is gaming, and im looking to be able to play new games on high settings my current setup can hang with most stuff but just wont cut it when you go to crank the settings up . Anyway any help would be appreciated thanks!

current specs

2gb ram
pentium 3.2 GHz (Dual Core)
Geforce 7300 le
Vista 32 bit

Were you wanting 4gb more for a total of 6gb or just end up at 4gb so you would be getting 2gb? Also in case you don't know 32bit won't be able to use all of the 4gb. In any case I wouldn't keep that psu if you plan to get any decent card but $250 should be plenty to get some decent stuff. You have a PCI-E slot right?

Actually theres a bunch of combos you could do but heres some suggestions.

Edit: When you say Pentium 3.2ghz (dual core) do you mean pentium D 3.2ghz? I assume you do which may slow you down a bit.

thanks for the great info guys....i was looking to end up at 4 GB of ram (i only have 2 slots for ram) but it looks like ill be adding the power supply to the list thanks again for the links and help

Edit... Should i be concerned with upgrading to the 64 bit OS running with 4gb and a decent/good FX card?
