Why not crossfire a 4870 and a 4830, won't the 4830 just add to the existing performance? (Of the new 4870)
(Correct me if I'm wrong)

yes but the 4870 will be essentially another 4830.
i really dont think CF 4830's will beat a 1gb 4870 at 1900 resolution. i could be wrong. i think the 1gb of useable memory and gddr5 are very helpful at that resolution and higher.

From what I understood, the 4830 in CF is only slightly faster than a single 8800 GT. A single 4870 1 gig is definitely faster than a 8800 GT, so I would go that route.

But, I guess I could be wrong. Anyone got any handy links showing the 4830 CF being faster than a 4870 1 gig?

4830 CF will beat a 4870 1GB the majority of the time at 1920x1200. However you'll encounter some situations where you'll run out of the framebuffer and performance will go down the toilet. That means you'll have to turn down AA and AF or something to free up some vid memory.

So, in the end, it is probably only a little faster than a 4870 1 gig, in certain situations.

I guess, if I were going from a new system point of view, I would go with whatever setup was cheaper (two 4830s or one 4870). But, if I already had a 4830, I would probably get another.

You definitely are.. because the HD 4830 already beats 1 9800Gt
