So I'm building a new comp with the following specs:
i7 920
6GB OCZ Plat DDR3 RAM
Antec 650W PSU
24" 1900x1200 monitor
Vista Ultimate 64-bit

I already have a Sapphire Radeon 4830 lying around, and I was thinking about spending 80 bucks or so and buying another one and XFing them, but is it worth it just to spend the extra 100 and get a Radeon 4870 1GB?

Thanks for the help.

Thanks for the replies. :)

Just out of curiosity, if I went with a 22" monitor, would 4830 XF make that much difference over a 4830 single?

At that resolution, you'd want a Crossfire setup, or a dual-video card setup...

Usually at that resolution, I'd recommend at least a GTX 280 or HD 4850X2, maybe he could get away with the HD 4870 1GB, but I wouldn't be expecting to max some of the more demanding games though

4830's in crossfire perform very well @1920x1200 as well.

Like Vernong said, you'd only be spending another $100 and you'd be getting your money's worth.

The 4870 will not perform as well as the 4830's in crossfire.

isnt he playing at 1680 x 1050?
an hd4870 1gb will smoke that resolution. i used to run mine full everything all games 1920 x 1200. but i dont play crysis.
