I am planning on building a PC in about 5 months, but I want to start learning about stuff now. I have $2000 dollars to spend, and I want it to be for gaming.

First of all, is there some site that is great and gives lots of info on learning? I want to know what parts do and what crossfiring is, etc. because I have no idea.

Second if all, if I were to go build it right now, could someone put a nice one together? Then I could look and compare parts in the months to come.

Thanks a million!

EDIT: And the PC is going to be for my senior project (doing it a little early), which is something dumb (blahblahblah) anyway, ya, that is why I'm spending alot. (If 2000 is alot) (Especially being only 16)

first, yes, right here.

Second, yes, there are several here who can bang out a build list in nothing flat.

$2K is a nice budget for a killer rig.

Well, that's great to know! Haha. I'll start checking out the forums more, thanks.

And anyone who is bored and wants to build a list in 'nothing flat', then go for it! ;)

Including monitor and everything, my build was $2000. Look to my sig for the main parts. In 5 months though, the 300 series cards should be out though, so that will be nice for you.

So you're a senior and only 16? How is this computer for your senior project? We have senior projects at my school, but I'm not doing one. I'm just gonna go the extra 2 weeks.

Druid - Well, they drop three of my grades a whole freaken letter (english, gov't, something else) so that means from an A to a B. It's retarded.

BUT, my desktop just happen to fail on us now, and all we have is a laptop. And I love gaming and the best thing my PC could run w/o failing is mozilla! haha. But ya, I thought I could build the dream PC I've always wanted to play games such as COD4.

Thresh - thanks, I'll look into those. I definaetly want a monitor that can handle 1080p..Don't I? I mean, I have no monitor as of now. I'm not worried about sound. But anyway, thanks for giving me a list of stuff. I'll check it out.

EDIT: senior next year. I wanted to get this prject done in around September right when I turn a senior. Only junior now :D

Yeah you definitely want a monitor with resolution like that. I myself use a 26" 720P lcd tv, so that way I can use it as my bedroom tv as well, but my resolution is only 1336x768. To find the monitor you like, go into a store like bestbuy and look yourself to see what pops out. Write the model number down and see if the egg has is cheaper. And with that kind of budget get a really nice case. you want to keep all that nice stuff inside there very cool.

Welcome EJJ,
